 CCWUA President's Message

January 2025

I'd like to share some important updates with CCWUA Members:

Idaho DEQ Water Testing Requirements:  After extensive testing requirements were completed in 2024 with no contamination issues, I am pleased to inform you that we have been exempted from the additional testing. In 2025 we will continue to test for Coliform on a quarterly basis and Nitrites only once. This will reduce annual water testing costs by approximately $10,000 in 2025.  Note that DEQ will require follow up testing in years to come and will inform us each December of any required changes.

Planning Grant Approval: The CCWUA planning grant request was approved by Idaho DEQ this past October.  We received approval for up to $38,500 in matching funds.  Any planning costs that exceed $77,000 will be the responsibility of CCWUA.  We are working with Coffman Engineering to develop a Facility Plan, required by DEQ,  that shows details for our capital improvement project.  This plan will be presented to the membership at the next Annual Member Meeting.  Assuming the membership gives the Board their approval to move forward, we will apply for Construction financing through DEQ hoping to qualify for low interest financing and potential Grant subsidy.

Annual Member Meeting:  Mark your calendars!  The next Annual Member meeting is July 5, 10:00 am - Noon at the Inn at Priest Lake.  l hope to see you then.  Your voice matters!

Regards,

Alan Ameche
